Rare & Stunning Antique Japanese Hand Painted Black Lacquer Box, c1900

Here on offer is a rare and stunning antique Japanese hand painted black lacquer box, c1900. This gorgeous lacquered box has a black glossy surface that has been beautifully hand painted with flowers in tones of gold, red and bronze. The edge of the lid has a delicate gold scrolling detail. The lid lifts off with a gilt brass handle that has two small brass pins in the lid, that protect the lacquer from being damaged by the handle. There is very little damage to the lacquer.

Once the lid is lifted off, it reveals the black interior which is in great condition. The box is supported by four shaped feet.

This beautiful and elegant box measures about 31.7cm by 16.7cm by 8.8cm. Please see my pictures for the details of the condition.
