Large late Meiji era (1890 1912) hibachi with lucky symbol makie decorations. The form and construction is very unusual and rare with intricate joinery. Original tin heat shield at bottom and sides. Heat and over 100 years of use have evenly shrunk the top section of the hibachi resulting in separation at each side.
