Rare Butterfly, Dragon Fly Grape & Flower Meiji Japanese Cloisonne Charger Plate
Butterfly, Dragon Fly, Grapes and Plants/Flowers Japanese Cloisonne Charger Plate Enamel Plate. This was made just in the early Meiji. Time frame, so around 1868, just after the edo period. If you look at the paste on the back, this very dark green enamel was used in the edo period and was. Away from use during the meiji period. On the front helps support this as well. For reference Japan's Meiji Period lasted from January 25, 1868 - July 30, 1912. Listing is for the single Charger Plate. Boldly Enameled Butterfly and Dragonfly alongside Grapes, plants, Flowers.
An array of foliage thought-out. The piece over a black ground with floral motif. Backside/rear of the piece has a abstract cloud or "wave / swirl" motif. Diameter: 12.0 inches / 30.48 cm. Height: 1.25 inches / 3.175 cm.
Item is good condition, and there is a normal wear given it's age and there's some crazing, pitting, scratches, and patina to the plate as well a wear and surface debris on the backside of the piece, there's also some minor enamel flaking due to age, I pointed out a spot with the measuring tape. I also have Blue and White vases, other Larger vases and jars, Ginger Jars, and Cloisonne vases, check my other listings.
