Ornate Carved Antique Japanese Suzuri Inkstone in Wooden Case - a rare vintage or antique item. It most likely is post-war but it certainly has been around awhile either way.

This inkstone came from the practice of a (still) living ikebana master, although now no longer practicing in her mid 90s. The design resembles either a flying bird or (some say) a stylized leaping rabbit along with some kind of flora. The inkwell portion is fairly deep and has a lip, as pictured.

Fits neatly in original wooden case.
