A typical early maneki neko from the kilns of Seto near Nagoya, which have been making maneki neko figures since before 1900. I bought her from a Japanese antiques shop, which identified the era for me. She bears the wear and dirt of true age and authenticity. It is rare to find these larger-sized Meiji period Seto cats, and this is a nice example in good antique condition. I have had her for about 15 years now, a beautiful addition to the top of one of my library bookshelves, one of a large, treasured collection of antique maneki neko figures.
I love her, but my space is limited, and it is time to allow her to find her next home.
