Japanese Antique KAWAMATA-JIDAI-TANSU DANSU MEIJI era Layered chest of drawers An old-fashioned chest of drawers, a chest of drawers stacked with metal fittings with a crane crest on the corner of the Nihonmatsu region of Fukushima Prefecture (Kawamata). The era is a product over 120 years old in the middle of the Meiji period. This chest of drawers is from the Kawamata region.

Kawamata is a city that prospered with silk, and the chests are of high quality and many are made to order. Among them, it is a one-of-a-kind item that has been carefully examined in terms of metal fittings, coating, and construction.

The metal fittings are thick square metal fittings with a filet, and a crane's circular metal fitting is attached to the joint. The handle has a sharp warabi handle. You can see that the corner metal fittings and frame metal fittings are also thick and good. The coating is painted with Kijiro-nuri and has a wonderful glossy finish that reflects everything with a mirror finish. The color is orange, and it is a color that suits both Japanese and Western styles.

The frame is painted in a slightly reddish orange color and has some scratches, but is in good condition. The front panel is made of solid zelkova wood, and the frame and drawers are made of solid cedar wood. When you open the door, there are two drawers inside, and the lower part has metal fittings and can be locked. There are 3 keys and all 6 places can be locked and unlocked. It has been beautifully polished and finished with antique wax, the inside has been cleaned, and the drawer has been adjusted so that the drawer can be taken in and out smoothly, so it is ready for immediate use.

This chest of drawers is stacked and the top and bottom heights are the same.
