Reluctant sale of an antique Japanese Kabuto / Samurai helmet with crescent moon Maetate. Very hard to date, but my feeling is that its late Edo, around 1850 or so. Please look at the pictures and draw your own conclusions. As you can see, the lacquer has come off in numerous places, and the lining has seen better days, but personally I like the fact that its showing its age.
Very rare to see these in the UK, or anywhere else. Ive been unable to find anything re the mon (family crest), but if you know anything then Id be grateful for the information. The display stand is included, as it the original chin strap (not pictured). If you are interested in purchasing both items and collecting in person then please get in touch and we can discuss a deal. Declared value will be the sale price, and the item will only be dispatched once funds have cleared in my account. If you have any questions please ask.
