Please read the whole description! On offer is a Japanese early 19th century Inuyama ware Porcelain Tea Bowl.
It is approximately 8.8 cm tall and the diameter at the top is 20.5 cm. This is an early 19th century piece trying to copy the Ming dynasty Swatow ware from China, which was very popular in Japan. The Japanese started creating those pieces in the late 18th century, so this is one of the earliest examples.
Obviously the finish is not anywhere near the perfection of the Chinese Swatow ware of the same era, but it is much better compared to the other Inuyama ware of that period. That makes this piece quite rare and valuable. It comes with an appraisal storage box.Recently sourced directly from Japan. A collectors' piece for sure!
Condition Report: This bowl is in good antique condition, with wear and tear. There is severe loss of glaze on the base. There are some tiny holes throughout, which are small firing faults (not damages).
One of them is of decent size (inner side please see photos). There is also a small "bump" near that.
Several crazing lines throughout, but they are NOT cracks. Some loss oto the colours as well.
But this is normal for an item of this age. As a matter of fact this is as good as a genuine early 19th century Inuyama piece.
No nasty cracks or repairs like most similarly dated items. Mint ones would sell for at least 2.5 times my asking price.. Should you need any additional info, please do not hesitate to ask me any questions.
