A lovely 19th century possibly earlierJapanese wooden box, covered with repoused Manuka symbols and other symbols relating to life and well being. The repoused metal has been electromagnetically tested, and is possibly silver but more likely tin or copper. This is an unusual and very interesting box, research leads me to many places including samurai origins.

And given the symbols this most likely. There is one symbol missing from the back of the lid, you have to look to tell, but it is not perfect as it is over 200 years old. There are also signs of repair to the inside back plate.

I have taken this into consideration when pricing it. I do not have the key for the lock.
