A very good looking well made and decorative pair of bookends, each one depicting early Samurai, they are actually embossed leather so there would have been a metal cast sculptured which would have been heated and used to emboss the leather, its a very difficult process. These were retailed through Asprey London circa 1900, Asprey are known for souring wonderful thing from all around the world to retail in their Bond Street store.
In terms of the condition both have a period patina, one has some small sections of the cover missing to the back and sides, the other is perfect.
