Up for your consideration is a very fine & rare Japanese hand-woven bronze miniature basket, decorated with a crab and two insects. The basket measures a mere 2.25" tall and 2.25" in diameter. It is constructed from very thin bronze strips, that were hand-woven to form the basket. It is further adorned with a finely detailed crab, and two insects.
The basket is in excellent condition. One of the insects only has 1 antennae present. I do not believe the other is missing, but that the artist is depicting a side view of the insect, as indicated its red painted top (see last photo). This quote is for the Continental U.
