Description: LARGE ANTIQUE SATSUMA VASE Very large and antique, elaborate Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase; of ovoid form with wide, fluted and flated rim; the body showing two highly animated figural scenes, one of warriors and the other of a court scene; with two moulded dragon and ribboned handles; with much gilt detailing; H: 24 1/4; Provenance by repute: from the Estate of Ernestine Schumann-Heink, gifted by the Emperor of Japan for performing in the late 1800s; then given by Schumann-Heink to Adolf Hink, her chauffeur Condition: one side of dragon earring is missing.
